Hot off the presses! (Does anybody even know what a “press” is these days?)
This is the largest study to date on the relationship between those who do and those who don’t indulge in chocolate.
The findings?
Those who ate the most chocolate (7.5 grams per day) had a 39 percent lower risk of heart attack and stroke than those who ate almost no chocolate.
It is believed that the effect is due to flavanol, an antioxidant found in cocoa.
What the experts prescribe:
Eat dark chocolate; at least 70% cocoa.
Remember that chocolate is a high-fat food and stick with the 7.5 grams daily recommendation.
That comes to about one 1″x 1″ square of a 100 gram bar.
So ENJOY, treat yourself and know you are improving your health!
